Principal’s Letter May 2017

New LEAPS logo It feels surreal to know that we have come to the end of the school year 2016-17. Looking back, it has been a year of accomplishment for the students, staff and administration. Our students have improved in all areas- in all content areas, socially and emotionally as well.

I would like to take time to acknowledge the commitment of our staff, the collaborative efforts of the parents and the continued guidance of the board of directors, that we have been able to achieve goals. I believe that our passion for these exceptional children is the fuel to keep working harder in the future and the satisfaction of seeing progress in our children is comparable to none.

Though we are at the closing week of our school year, students are still learning. We will celebrate Mothers on May 12th at 12:30 p.m. in your child’s classroom with Mother’s Day tea. We will have field day May 24th, with all day outdoor fun activities.

Our graduation ceremony will be on May 26th – 9 a.m.- 10 a.m. – lower grades and 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. for the upper grades. The students may choose to leave for the rest of the day with the parent.
I recommend that all students consider enrolling in the summer program with us, with fun filled learning activities 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. Attached is the flyer, for your convenience. Also, please take time to complete the questionnaire regarding 2017-18 academic year.

As an educator, I would remind all parents and students to continue to review the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout the summer. I strongly recommend having a book in progress and check out the Pasco county reading list for the summer, which will be available in the libraries and have at least one book report returned for the following year. The student to read the maximum number of books will receive a grand prize.

We will have guest speaker Mr. Andy Cobb, addressing our students on digital citizenship and safety with the social media.
I would like to thank all the parents who were actively involved in our fundraiser golf tournament, with your generous donations, for going around several businesses securing donations, and golfers.

Without your support, encouragement, and trust, I would not have been able to successfully complete this year. Together, we will make a difference in each of our student, one student at a time.

Serving with pride,
Pearlyn Rajamanickam
