This has been a very eventful month in my class with Hurricane Irma deciding to come for a visit. I was able to use this as an opportunity to teach my students about Hurricanes. We also used the track of the Hurricane to learn about the geography of Florida and the Caribbean.
In Math, we are using number lines to add and subtract numbers up to 20 as well as learning patterns and skip counting. We are learning some skip counting songs that should really help the kids remember.
In Language Arts, the kids have been hard at work learning both short and long vowel sounds as well as blended sounds such as: fl, sh, sw etc.
In October, I am planning some fun activities for Halloween, like teaching the kids how to draw silly monsters for the letters.
I just want to say how much I enjoy the children in my class and look forward to a fun and exciting year with them.
Mr. Tom Wright
